They also found Potts's girlfriend at another apartment. She too had stab wounds. She identified Case as the attacker and when caught Case admitted to the murder.
Homicide News Release
***UPDATE***
The website DreaminDeamon has interviewed the mother of the victim's friend.
"Anthony Case turned 20 on February 21. Just a week later, he became a murderer. On Thursday night, February 28, Anthony had spent the night with a friend. Earlier in the evening Anthony had stolen the friend’s cell phone and truck keys, hiding them, but the friend didn’t notice. The friend, his young wife and their small child had gone to bed. Anthony, a longtime friend who stayed at the home often, wasn’t asleep. Instead, he was plotting two murders and a frame job.
Sometime later, Anthony left the apartment and went to another apartment just two buildings away, the home of mutual friend James Potts and James’ girlfriend Ashley. How Case got into the home is unclear, but once he did, Case attacked Potts, stabbing him more than 32 times. Ashley began to scream, so Case grabbed her by the hair, jerked her head back and slit her throat. Our source says that “…when she still struggled, he stabbed her twice in the back and then went to cut her throat yet again, this time she slipped in his grip, and the knife went into her mouth, and he slit her from her mouth to her ear… at which point, she played dead.”
Ashley waited for Case to leave. Still in shock and bleeding heavily, she managed to get out of the second-floor apartment and go to another unit to get help. Police arrived at 2:30 on Friday morning and Ashley was able to tell them that it was Case who had done the stabbing. Police located Case by tracing the friend’s stolen cell phone. Case was found walking down a road nearby."

A baby without a name dies after mother discareded him in a trash bin
21 Feb 2008
The baby boy that Genny Granados, 29, gave birth to in the bathroom of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital has died. After giving birth Granados cut the umbilical cord and placed the baby in a trash bin. Custodians later found the baby in the waste bin covered with bloody paper towels. The baby was not breathing at the time.
The newborn was taken to Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital where doctors decided to take him off of life support after he was declared brain dead.
Granados has two other children, ages 2 and 10. She told authorities that she did not want any more children. Questions of to why Granados did not give birth to her newborn normally and give up her baby in accordance with Texas' Safe Haven law, a law that allows a guardian to give up rights to a child to another person such as a doctor or firefighter, have been unanswered. Granados has been arrested for child endangerment. Additional charges have not yet been filed.
